Round 1: Business Basics Rubric

Thank you for judging the SparkWV Pitch Competition! Please follow these guidelines to ensure fair and consistent evaluation across all submissions.

General Guidelines:
- Be Objective: Focus on the content, not personal preferences.
- Be Consistent: Apply the same standards across all entries.
- Provide Feedback: Offer constructive comments, especially for lower scores.

Evaluation Criteria (1-5 Scale)

1. Track Selection:
- Does the chosen track align with the business idea?
- Score lower if the track doesn’t fit or is missing.

2. Business Name:
- Is the name clear, memorable, and relevant?
- Score lower for unclear or irrelevant names.

3. Target Customer:
- Is the target audience specific and realistic?
- Score lower if the audience is too broad or vague.

4. Opportunity or Problem:
- Is the problem well-defined with evidence?
- Score lower for vague or unsupported problems.

5. Solution:
- Is the solution clear, effective, and unique?
- Score lower if the solution is unclear or doesn’t address the problem.

6. Personal Statement:
- Does the statement show passion and alignment with SparkWV?
- Score lower if it lacks effort or enthusiasm.

7. Grammar and Punctuation:
- Is the submission well-written and error-free?
- Score lower for multiple errors or unclear writing.

Final Notes:
- Provide brief, constructive feedback.
- Take your time and ensure fairness for all participants.
