Description

This competition is open to Cherokee County students in grades 9-12 with an existing business or business idea. This includes students from the Baxter Springs, Columbus, Galena, Riverton, & Southeast school districts as well as Cherokee County students who are homeschooled or attend a private school. Students may compete as individuals or in teams of up to four.

The competition will include the following three elements which will each be given equal weight by the judges. (Note: If we must go virtual with the event, we will eliminate the tabletop display and equal weight will be given to the remaining two elements.)

·  A Written Executive Summary 
 
·  A 4-Minute Presentation Followed by up to 4 Minutes of Q & A with the Judges. 
 
·  A Tabletop Display Showcasing the Business or Concept.

Schedule and key dates

To compete, your executive summary must be uploaded by the end of day on February 24, 2021.

The schedule for the March 4, 2021 event is as follows:

8:30 to 9:00 am - Entrants from Galena High School arrive and set-up their tabletop displays in the auditorium (Please enter through the west doors on High School Avenue. We are requiring all participants (students, teachers, volunteers, and judges) to wear a mask for the entirety of the event and have their temperature checked upon arrival.)

9:00 to 11:15 am - Tabletop displays are judged in the auditorium and presentations are judged in room 106 

11:15 am - Entrants from Galena High School depart

11:30 am to 12:00 pm - Entrants from Columbus, Riverton, & Southeast High Schools arrive and set-up their tabletop displays in the auditorium (Please enter through the west doors on High School Avenue. 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm - Tabletop displays are judged in the auditorium and presentations are judged in room 106 

2:00 pm - Entrants from Columbus, Riverton, & Southeast High Schools depart

4:00 pm - Facebook Live video on the Cherokee County Youth Entrepreneur Fair page announcing event results (We will follow-up with each district to arrange award presentations to their prize winners.)
