Description

The Koch Innovation Challenge, sponsored by Koch Industries, is an annual competition that will support the WSU College of Engineering in fostering a culture of creativity, innovation, entrepreneurship, and teamwork among students. Students work in teams to identify a meaningful opportunity in the community to tackle, conduct customer interviews, build a working prototype that solves the problem, and then pitch their big idea to angel investors for a chance at scholarships and seed money.

This year's competition is going virtual and elevator pitches will be prerecorded and reviewed by judges and peers on VentureDash. In the fall semester, 30 teams competed and four teams were selected to advance to the Grand Champion Round. In this spring semester, another ten teams competed and two teams were selected to advance, bringing the total to 6 teams competing in this final Grand Champion Round.

This final competition will take place during the annual Engineering Open House in order to identify one Grand Champion Team. The members of the Grand Champion Team will be awarded a travel grant to attend the national Collegiate Entrepreneurs' Organization (CEO) Conference during their third semester. At the National CEO Conference, they will compete in the National Elevator Pitch Competition
